About
I set up River Strokes last summer,
as a small, independent kayak school
in the beautiful Wye Valley. My aim
is to give my clients an experience
that will take them away from the
pressures of life for a day, to challenge
them in a different way and ensure
they leave with a new sense of self-confidence
and achievement. I offer one-on-one
tuition to small groups, tailor-made
to their previous experience, fitness
and general confidence levels. I want
to introduce the pleasures of kayaking
to all ages and abilities, and pass
on what I believe is one of the best
ways to unwind and lose yourself for
a day (and have a lot of fun in the
process!). When my client’s
finish a day’s kayaking with
me, having learnt how to controll
the kayak and paddled through some
beautiful countryside, their enthusiasm
and newly found confidence is clear
to see.
And a bit about me? Well, after
growing up in the Wye valley and learning
to paddle, I then moved into teaching
at local outdoor centres, and I decided
to start the local kayak club in 2005.
I then travelled to New Zealand working
as a kayak instructor for a rafting
company www.rra.co.nz/index.htm .
Many great teaching experiences were
had, including teaching 300 school
children in 5 days in a pool. It was
in New Zealand that River Strokes
was conceived, and after returning
to Wales I launched my dream in my
home valley on the river Wye.
.
I believe all people should try kayaking
and with a friendly, calm and safe
approach its my passion to introduce
you. Give me a call and lets get paddling!
