Swimming pool sessions and river application
This is a new course to give you a great start to understanding the kayak rolling technique, application of support strokes and fundamental boat rescues.
For an instructor is it always challenging and frustrating teaching the roll and trying to condence the hardest move in the book into one pool session. The mental and pysical stages of change and learning requires the elements to be broken down and practiced. Focusing on each of the 3 main steps per day is really benificial to development and understanding.

The building is set in 130 acres of Welsh countryside overlooking the Wye Valley on the edge of the Brecon Beacons and Black mountain National Park.
Hay on Wye, famous for its second hand book shops and Festival of Literature and Art, is just over a mile away nestled beside the river Wye.
27 en-suite rooms ranging from executive style splendour through standard rooms and budget rooms all with the trimmings you would expect, tea and coffee facilities in each room, colour TV and all rooms are en-suite. If creature comforts are not an integral part of your stay dormitory accommodation and camping are available.

Meeting for a coffee and chat about the week ahead. We will talk through the challenges of rolling a kayak and blade support strokes, covering stability and the low brace. After a lunch break we move into the indoor pool and start to look at confidence upside down, capsize drills and the body movements of the roll.
The morning session cover the support strokes to help you have a clear understanding of technique and application, And body dry land excercices. The second pool session in the afternoon we will begin to look at issues with setup of the roll and paddle movement.
With a morning off to relax we begin the afternoon session in the pool and go over some common mistakes of the roll. It is important you understand what can lead to a failed roll and putting strain on your body.

With a river session to begin the day our first look and resuces, mind games, and improving the support strokes. The afternoon pool session will look at how we finish the roll and work on your personal progress of the technique.
A great fun pool session going over your roll. At the end of the day we want to make sure you understand why the roll works and help you fine tune the next steps.
