The week provides 7 days of training and fun on the water learning to paddle a kayak safely on the river.

Camping pitches provided

Riverside pitches on a wild site with limited facilities next to the river bank and training location. Self catering you will need to provide your own food and cooking arrangements.

Under the guidance of an experienced coach and river leader the week will provide you with practice drills to help you improve the kayaking strokes and rescue drills, looking at grade one flows simple eddies and foundation river knowledge.

» Camping Included, 7 nights basic camping Included in the course fee, 7 Nights camping or van pitch, riverside wild pitches, Self catering, basic facilities. No elec hook up.

» Duration 6 Days Coaching/Guide Wednesday - Wednesday (9.30am - 5.00pm)
» Gear We can provide ww kayaks, ww Dry cags, Wetsuits, Carbon paddles, Helmets, Spray decks and buoyancy aids included in the course fee.
» Ability Perfect for your first river trip down the River. If you have completed a beginner course and can paddle your kayak in a straight line, this course is the next step to thinking of the river and the skills needed to progress to your first grade 2 white water trip.
» Places 6 Total per holiday course, larger groups can be arranged.
camping holiday adventure Wednesday - Setup Camp

Meeting at the campground for the week in the afternoon 12-3pm. Meet the other paddlers of the course. Set up your tents and attend a 2 hr breifing session to introduce the week and the goals to achieve, sort out kit fitting correctly for the week kayaking.
adventure Thursday - Rolling / capsize

An Indoor heated pool rolling 2 hr session . looking at confidence upside down and safe calm capsize drills. Building up for understanding of a good exit with a spray deck and boat empty drills. General confidence and chat on the kayak rolling technique. In the afternoon we have a 2 hour river session.

adventure Friday - Strokes and combinations

Starting with effective forward paddling and boat control for turns. the day will look into more detail and breakdown control strokes., Sideways draw strokes including sculling for position and draw on the move. Stern rudder combinations and speed control techniques. Posture, control and understanding your blade through correct control of the paddle and the separate strokes.

adventure Saturday - River skills teamwork

Strokes and practice drills to catch eddies with confidence and ferry gilde with ease. AWARENESS AND Controlling our decent within the group. the group will be introduced to river features and hazards that we find on moving water. Looking at eddies and ferry gliding skills.
rolling adventure Sunday - Rescue / Strokes / Drills

Rescue drills with safety boating, throw lines and paddler self rescue. River swimming challenges and teamwork rescues will be covered in details and drills set up to improve your ability to be a safe member of a kayaking trip. Stroke practice and timing.
surfing adventure Monday - SURFING / RESCUES

A surfing session on a grade one surf wave will introduce you to the ascepts and fun surfing. Teamwork and safety cover drills. Group positioning. Practicing the strokes you wil lnow be shown how to apply them and link the blade together for effective constant efficient control. Now working with the flow
adventure Tuesday - River Trip 3 miles

The river trip will be 3 miles including some grade 1 rapids. Working with the flow and understanding the river with timing and positioning, eddie work and group decent tactical options will be covered and allow you to take the lead and increase your river awareness.
Wye valley adventure Wednesday - River Trip 5 miles

The final river trip will be 5 miles including a grade 2 rapid. The trip will allow you to enjoy the river wye and all the nature on the river, Swans, ducks, red kites, sand martins, and much more.

Explore a great section of the river wye with the Black Moauntains in the background and the Brecon Beacons close by. After the trip and back at camp a short De briefing over coffee to conclude the week.
