White water kayaking skills trip in wales

This course will improve on your kayaking skills and techniques to make the most out of a grade II river trip. The day begins with a briefing on the day ahead and skills to be covered. A chance to get to know the group what you would like to achieve and work on. Improving your grade II river reading skills and ability to move around the river.

We use sections of the river Wye and Usk depending on river levels and the groups ability. The trips have good consist ant sections of Grade II features, ideal for training and mastering the skills. To really enjoy the river we like to build on your confidence and control. Learn to use the flow and effective strokes to get the most out of your river trips. Increase your experience for 3 star ww kayak assessments and explore some great grade II white water in Mid Wales.

We will meet at different venues depending on the rivers levels. An informal chat introducing the group and an outline of skills covered on the trip. Safety brief and kit check
The first part of the trip will focus on key strokes, with a warm up session before the first rapid of the day. We then decent downstream working on awareness, group dynamics and basic rescues
There is a lot to learn on the river and always improving strokes and techniques. The de brief will recap the course content and set you up to practice and move forward with your paddling.
camping Awareness / Skills

The second part of the trip will improve your timing and cover rapid running group techniques. over the last few rapids you can apply your new skills and awareness


We can provide kayaks and all the gear required. Bring your own food and drink to be used on short breaks down the river. Please let us know at the time of booking if you need any equipment (no extra cost)
