Location
- Mid Wales -
Hay - Glasbury - Brecon
We meet at Glasbury on Wye, in the car park next to the river. The car park is sign posted from the main road through Glasbury. On the other side of the river is a Cafe serving great food and excellent coffee. On the main road junction the garage sells snack's and drinks to take on the river. During summer months our trips lead 5 miles down river to Hay-On-Wye.
The
River Wye provides gentle Grade I and II rapids
with relaxing calm stretches and lies in
the shadow of both the Black Mountains and
Brecon Beacons. Based on the stunning mid
Wales border, close to Brecon and on the
edge of the Welsh border town of Hay-On-Wye,
River Strokes is located within easy access
of the river Wye and surrounding area.
The Wye
valley,
Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons, provide a real treat for an experience in Wales.
The area has many options for countryside and village accomadation.
Bed and Breakfast, camping, hotels and
country pubs. The river Wye and Usk are the main
venues, providing gentle Grade I and exciting Grade II rapids
and relaxing calm stretches to train
and have fun kayaking. |

October - March
During Autumn and Winter we have access to many wonderfull rivers in the Brecon Beacons National Park. We run trips further up the river Wye and river Ifon when the river levels are suitable. The river Wye provides an amazing backdrop for an exciting Grade 2 kayaking trip. The river Usk running past brecon has a different charictor and will be a memorable first river trip paddling in the valley below the brecon beacons. |
