Kayak Equipment We provide white water kayaks, Dry cags, Wetsuits, Carbon paddles, Helmets, Neoprene spray decks and Bouancy aids.

First time in a river kayak


Discover kayaking in Wales on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

The canal based introduction course will give you a fun introduction to kayaking with all the equipment provided.

River strokes will help you to learn the fundamental paddling skills required to safely control a kayak. The day will be taken at a pace to suit a first time kayaker with regular breaks and plenty of chat. You will benefit from Small group sizes, with a maximum of 6 paddlers on the course in total.

We use a canal to give you a relaxing area to get used to the kayak and the control skills. A short 2 mile trip down the canal gives you a chance to explore and practice.

canoe Morning - 9.30am Meeting / Skills Afternoon - 1.30pm Practice / Trip


Meeting by the canal, for a brew and breifing. We will then kit you out with kayaking equipmentt. You will be introduced to paddling the kayak in a straight line. Requiring some practice small tips and advice will help you get control. The control strokes will be demonstrated and taught in small fun sessions.


The afternoon session we involve a recap of control strokes and assist you with any aspect of the forward paddling technique and improve your confidence in a kayak. With practice and guidance from your coach the group will go on a short trip down the canal for 2 miles.
camping Lunch: 12.30pm - 1.30pm De-brief – 4.00pm


The midday break offers a time to relax and watch the canal float by. Many options available if you do not remember a packed lunch, a café and local pub in the village offers lunchtime food.


The group will gather the days thoughts and personal feedback will help you progress to the next stages.
