Kayaking introduction holiday week
This course is great fun to introduce you to kayaking on the river. The 5 days of training will cover many
key control skills and safety topics based on river kayaking. Each day builds
on previous skills learnt allowing for practice time. Learn a new outdoor activity on holiday and discover kayaking in Wales on the river Wye. All equipment is provided using white water kayaks, paddles, wetsuits, cags, helmets and Bouancy Aids. The course takes place next to the river with a cafe and garage to use at lunchtime.

Monday
Meeting up by the river for a chat about the week ahead and introductions are made. Also Introducing the equipment used for kayaking during the week. Your first steps can be frustrating, and the forward paddling technique
will take some time to master. Control with key strokes will be taught including sideways movements, stopping, turning and capsize drills.
Tuesday
Recap on control skills and the first river trip down a grade I river. You will experience the rivers flow at grade I, a fun trip introducing the river features and techniques we use as kayakers.
Wednesday
Some new skills and strokes will be demonstrated and practiced. Another short river trip will let you become more relaxed and in control..
Thursday
Open practice and general skills, personal feedback sessions. The day is to improve and recap the fundamental kayaking skills and the days is flexible.
Friday
5 Mile river trip using all river features and a grade II rapid, a fun day enjoying kayaking. Thoughout the day we will discuss your next steps as a new paddler.
Maximum numbers on the course are limited to 6 paddlers, so during the week you will
receive plenty of personal coaching, practice time and have fun with new friends.
The day to day programme will be flexible according to the groups requirements
and weather conditions. One and two star awards can be taken during the week.

With a relaxing start to the day at 9.30am, we meet at the River Cafe Glasbury for a coffee and park next to the River Wye. The course meeting point is shown in miles from the accommodation.
